About The Thunder Program

Our program, in comparison to traditional hockey programs that compete at elite levels, is very unique. The idea and goal of Thunder Hockey is to assist players in developing their skills necessary to advance to the next level. In order to achieve this, the number of games should not exceed the number of practice hours that each player receives.

Currently, Thunder Hockey as an organization has a strong presence in 3 separate cities: Huntsville, AL, Nashville, TN and Atlanta, GA. Since the program covers a wide area, we have the ability to draw players from several different states (which all fall into our Affiliate within the South East District) and offer them an opportunity to grow and develop. Even though players are from several different cities and states, they are brought together weekly in order to maintain the team building we pride ourselves on. Each week, the players are provided with 1.5 – 3.0 hours of High Skills practice sessions that take place in all three cities (Huntsville, Nashville and Atlanta).  The players are brought together on weekends for league games, tournaments or a training camp style experience that we call “High Performance Weekends”, which average approx. 4-6 hours of on-ice practice plus additional off-ice training. Throughout the season, the players are also exposed to regular off-ice conditioning, video analysis and several team building exercises. Our goal is to offer every player the best path to success in hockey and allow them to go above and beyond their own expectations.

Thunder Hockey has formed a strong relationship with its sponsoring program: Total Package Hockey (TPH). This program is designed to offer several opportunities for player and personal development through their spring and summer programs and elite level training camps. Another unique feature that is present with the program is its ability to recruit players to the program that may have not previously had the opportunity to participate. Their dedication to youth hockey and vision of the future sets them apart and into a league of their own.
